Categories
For the purposes of our Canadian organization, we wish to
recognize THREE categories of Akhal Tekes.
Purebred (AT-P).
100% Akhal Teke blood as confirmed by breed experts Tatjana
Riabova and Natasha Abramova who represent VNIIK
- the
All Russian
Research Institute for Horse Breeding.
Sporthorse (AT-S).
50% or more Akhal Teke blood contributed by either
sire or dam.
The contributing Akhal Teke parent MUST be a registered animal, as
MUST be the other contributing
parent.
Crossbred (AT-X).
Less than 50% Akhal Teke blood but more than 25% (F2 outcross) OR
animals by or out of unregistered stock
of other
contributing parent.
Means of Identification:
CANADIAN ACQUISITION & IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
Because ATSBA is not a formal registry, we cannot give horses
registration numbers per se, but we firmly believe that our
Canadian population needs some means of identification,
therefore we have created the CA/IN.
Purebreds
are prefixed by AT-P, followed immediately by the last two digits of
its year of birth separated by a full-stop followed immediately by a
3-digit number representing importation to, or birth, in Canada
ending with a 3-character abbreviation of country born in. For
example: AT-P96.084RUS reads; a purebred animal born in 1996, 84th
animal in Canada, born in Russia, (please note: this is not
an actual animal)!
Sporthorses
are prefixed by AT-S, followed by all the same information, in the
exact same format, except that the last item listed is the
other constituent breed in a 2-character abbreviated format. For
example: AT-S12.040SB reads; a sporthorse born in 2012, the 40th
of its category on record, the other breed being a registered
standardbred, (again: this animal does not exist)!
Crossbreds
are prefixed by AT-X, followed by all the same information as in the
previous two examples, with the exception that their numbers end
with the 3 digit number which represents their importation to, or
birth, in Canada. For example: AT-X86.023 reads; a crossbred
animal born in 1986, which is the 23rd animal in its
category, (and again, please remember: this is a
hypothetical animal)!
For this system to work, it is imperative that owners provide
accurate records regarding their horses, including date and place of
birth, as well as when exactly brought into Canada. No
executive member of the ATSBA Canada will be held responsible for
incorrect information listed, although we will always try to be
accurate. It is the responsibility of an animal’s owner to
provide us with correct information, in a timely manner.
The Past. For
the Future. |
